Pretty cool looking, even if the color isn’t for me. Looks like a stick will fit in there also , the way baby Jesus intended.

I want to see how a black on black interiors looks as well.

No confirmation on the manual yet

Who  would want to drive a car that has "carscoops.com" printed all over the interior? That was a poor design choice.

It’s not a real Corvette. It doesn’t look like a Malibu inside.

Absolutely not a fan. Steering wheel doesn’t support 9-3 position I mostly drive aggressively with. I like driver focused center consoles and infotainment but that wall looks ridiculous. It also looks like it belongs in a luxury cruiser. I do agree cars with that price range should have a more luxury feeling interior, but it just doesn’t feel like Corvette. Or Chevy at all. I could see Cadillac maybe.

Weirdly I'm never the one complaining about interiors, especially compared to the majority of commenters. But this just doesn't look right.

It’s funny to me how the C7 came out, and everyone in the press talked about how the car finally got a decent interior befitting the car. Now, only a couple ye ars later, you’d think the car is upholstered in used Hefty bags to hear them talk. I know standards change and improve with each model year, but a lot of this talk is exaggeration for effect and isn’t fair to the car.

For the record, I think the C7 interior is okay.  Not fantastic, but fine.

I followed the link and lo and behold I found a RENDERING purported to be the actual design.

I FUCKING HATE THAT!!!!

If you MADE IT UP how can you know that is what it will look like?

YOU DON’T.

Are they still calling it the C8 ? I know Zora has been thrown around. But does this mean the c7 is the last front engine Corvette? The c9 would have to be midengine. That's why I'm thinking this won't be a c8 but rather a different name or Corvette will branch off on it's own Genesis brand.

Interesting.

It seems to feature a growing pet peeve of mine: weird climate control layouts. What’s wrong with two knobs and 4-6 buttons in a logical layout (or a third knob) ?

I lost track of how many times I fumbled with the climate control in my old Q50.

I wonder if they’ll take a note from Toyota and the Supra in that they know teasing and teasing and teasing causes the hype and interest to fade rather than build.

Seriously the Supra was officially released and I was more so suprised it was actually released and not just more teaser.

The Corvette being as iconic as it is would do well with a 1 or 2 teaser then full release.

But that Corvette badge on the steering wheel...

I do think they’re overstepping their bounds calling this a “ C8 ” without confirmation though. Last I heard, there were supposedly two platforms in development: a front - engine C orvette and a rear/ mid -engine “Corvette” (can we just call it a Zora a lready?). If anything should be called a C8 , it should be the front - engined one .

I wouldn’t mind seeing a Cadillac version a la XLR, but the XLR has already been established as a front -engine car, so a rear/mid-engine Caddy would really need its own name.

I think this is not going to be sold as Corvette (or c8) at all. My guess would be it’s the Cadillac Zora, with similar styling to the corvette but at a much higher price, positioned as more of a halo car than a top-trim ‘vette.

I’d imagine it’s either that (trying to make it a surprise) -or- they’re parts they’ve already developed for the next corvette being used on the mules since they’re available and possibly interchangable with zora parts. I’ll be curious to see how it goes.

Maybe we’re all wrong and it’s the 2020 Fiero.

I just wish they had said, ”The previous interiors were absolutely utter shit! This one is acceptable.”

I do remember reading one Car And Drive review where they basically said the interior was still shit and there’s a reason a 911 costs more. It might have actually been a comparison test between the two.

I also got so sick of GM and all the journalists constantly saying how GM used the same seat supplier as Porsche.

Same supplier same quality.

Suppliers just make things to your specification. And the reviews suggested that GM still designed an inferior seat, but it was still better than the old one. But then, milk crates were better than the old seats.

Really? It looks like the two spokes are at an extreme angle down to easily allow your hands to be at 9-3, if not even further down the rim.

I think the bolstering and comfort in the C7 are good. And the upholstery is fine. For me it falls down in the quality of the switch gear and trim. But then again, I feel the competition overcharges for what you get in comparison.

Kinja'd!!! Poor_Sh > Thomas Donohue

Yeah that’s my problem with it actually. I really like wrapping my thumbs around the wheel at 9-3 but resting on the spokes/body that crosses at that juncture. For example:

Kinja'd!!!

I feel like that gives me the ability to use the strength of the spokes/body in my turning motion rather than relying on a grip around a cylindrical shape.

Lol I knew 100% this would be brought up. When you say, “looks like an X” and imply the negative or positive connotation about that subject, then I agree that I don’t really want an interior that looks more like a Chevy. Conversely, when you say, “looks like an X” and imply the brand identity or heritage, then I think that’s different. I don’t want a Chevy interior as in a bad interior, but even if it’s weird I still want to feel like special cars come from that manufacturer.

I like mustangs to feel like fords, not audis. I’d like a supra to feel like a toyota, not a BMW. Etc etc. I can easily admit though objective attractiveness doesn’t jive with this view point. Just my weird opinions I’m sharing with this weird blog :)

See my other reply to this. But essentially I think where I’d naturally hook my hands on that wheel are too low for my normal comfort and for most efficient force transfer.

I’d be willing to bet that (assuming that this car is infact a Corvette) t he mi d- engine design is a one off or GM will continue to sell a front engine Corvette next to this top of the line and most expense mid- engine car.

That’s some mighty fine delusional thinking right there. A Cadillac would have 0% reason to feature parts-bin interchangeability with any Chevy. There is no development going on for the C9 because the C8 isn’t even finished yet. GM (or any car company for that matter) Is not going to have a supplier channel and parts ready for a car that’s not even in development.

Cadillac does not need a supercar. Cadillac needs to figure out why people who don’t care about supercars aren’t buying it’s products anymore. The answer to this question will not be found by pleasing folks on car blogs who didn’t even buy the enthusiast offerings they launched to begin with.
